When you provide a complex number as input into this function, it processes this data and returns the real coefficient. Behavior
The IMREAL
function is used to return the real coefficient of a complex number. The complex number is provided in the form of 'x+yi' or 'x+yj', i.e., a real number followed by a '+' or '-' sign, followed by an imaginary number with 'i' or 'j'.
- If an empty cell is provided as an input, the
IMREAL
function will return a#VALUE!
error. - If the input provided is text that does not conform to the complex number format, the
IMREAL
function will return a#NUM!
error. - If a boolean value (TRUE or FALSE) is provided as an input, the
IMREAL
function will treat it as a numerical value: TRUE as 1 and FALSE as 0. - If a purely real number is provided as an input, the
IMREAL
function will return that number. For example,IMREAL("5")
will return 5. - If a purely imaginary number is provided as an input, the
IMREAL
